Minguet Quartett
On the scraps of indescribability
Wolfgang Rihm is one of today’s most frequently played German contemporary composers. Recently his opera Jakob Lenz was performed in the opera of La Monnaie in Brussels to great acclaim. Rihm grabs the listener immediately by the throat and doesn’t let go.
This concert will present a cross-section of his works for string quartet. First will be two early- expressionistic quartets, followed by a series of separate ‘scraps’ (German Fetzen) in which Rihm astonishingly manages to combine the string sonority with the sound of the accordion.
The concert closes with a long and sober elegy written on the death of one of his most enthusiastic performers. Rihm’s string quartets assure you of an unparalleled musical adventure, and a trip to in an unrestrained universe of sound.
